Project Engineer

JCM Associates, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to assist the Project Manager and/or Foreman in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. Along with the Project Manager and Foreman, the Project Engineer has the responsibility in the overall project oversight of subcontractors for the project.

Primary Duties Include:

  •          Collaborate with the Project Manager(s) in purchasing activities including scoping and take-offs
  •          Prepare and forward submittals and RFIs; Confirm submittal complies with plans/specs; Track RFIs and submittals
  •          Assist in updating the project schedule and subcontractor detail schedules
  •          Aid in preparing the equipment tracking log and monitoring when major equipment is to be released to ensure all deliveries conform with the project schedule
  •          Assist the Project Manager and Foreman in the coordination of drawings
  •          Draft change orders. Solicit prices form subcontractors and suppliers. Perform scope take-off and estimate costs
  •          Aid in close out of project includes assembling JCM manuals, startup/commissioning documentation, distribute and monitor completion of subcontractor and    field punch list items, collect/prepare warranties for turnover to GC/Owner and preparation of final payment documents for subcontractors
  •          Assist in setting up final inspections with appropriate authorities
  •          Coordinate equipment training schedules with vendors and general contractor
  •          Act as the point person for document management applications

This is a brief summary description of the duties associated with the position, however, there may be other duties required and assigned by the manager of this position as deemed appropriate for the role.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  •          Undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a degree in a related discipline preferred
  •          1-3 years of experience in a project engineer, or similar role in the construction industry, experience with a mechanical or general contractor a plus
  •          Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination and general project administration
  •          Familiarity with reading drawings and specifications
  •          Computer proficient, including Microsoft Office products; Prolong experience a plus
  •          Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  •          Team player and reliable
  •          Interest and passion for building and industry itself
  •          Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
